Lukes blog... I’ve travelled to an unknown time... (Jokes halloween blog begin!)

There are a few well known facts about me that anyone who has listed to ‘Dude you good?’ Or any other podcast where I can sprout an endless stream of nonsense will know:

  1. I am a millennial through and through.

  2. I am a Scorpio.

Now the Scorpio part doesn’t play much into this ramble of a blog post outside of my general Scorpio-ness but the millennial part does.

It is of course, spooky season and though my brother (fellow podcaster, Jordan) and I don’t enjoy the spookems and the scary part of Halloween - because really if I wanted to be scared I’d just make a sudden phone call to someone I don’t know (classic millennial) - I do enjoy the vibe, the aesthetic, the little pottery pals you can get along the way in the shape of ghosties.

Halloween jumble

So yes I, as much as the next youth enjoy a good Halloween item, a pumpkin flavoured drink and a ghost plaque that has a fun pun with the word ‘boo’ on it and as I sit here surrounded by pumpkin things on all sides (that stay out all year round because as they say, a pumpkin is for life not just for Halloween) I think to myself, how many pumpkins is too many. The answer of course, is impossible to know as I certainly haven’t reached it. Admittedly whenever I pick up a new item with my brother (and fellow podcaster, Jordan) he does make a small comment asking if I really need another pumpkin shaped thing, which as we all know the answer is undoubtedly yes.

This means that of course my first blog post in this Caffeine Addled venture would be about the best season of all and don’t get me wrong though I love a Halloween theme I have also done a whole dive into Samhain (check out Dude you good? Episode 9), because of course I have.

But as I sit here weighing up which of my Halloween themed mugs I will make my morning coffee in (as is the case every morning) I wonder if there was any hope for me to not have loved those silly little autumn items that fill the millennial void of no longer having as many crunchy leaves to tread on during the day. And so I’ve come to note two more facts are true:

  1. If something has a ghost in a cowboy hat on it I’m going to get it.

  2. I can often be seen wearing my orange hoodie or cryptid patch covered denim jacket.

Which of course brings me to my next topic, crytids (because if I’m doing a blog post I’m going to cover all avenues of what’s important for the people to know - and before I go onto the topic in full I’m not sure why the automatic dictionary on this document is saying ‘cryptid’ is misspelt as though it doesn’t come up in every day conversation).

For some reason crytids tend to be linked to the spooky season, I’m assuming it’s the standing in the woods staring at people with glowing eyes type of vibe they give off (but who hasn’t done that on a rainy autumn day); however I don’t think it’s fair to associate the majestic Mothman or gracious Big Foot to being inherently spooky as they’re just trying to get by in this world the same way we are, one crunchy leaf at a time …That being said I would like to think that Nessie (who could be debated as not a cryptid) does decorate her underwater home with autumn themes and fun ghost puns.

Now I know what you’re all thinking: ‘Luke was this just an excuse for you to talk about pumpkins and cryptids?’ Which of course the answer is: yes, yes it was, you’re welcome.

All of this is really just a long way to provide an answer to this age old question: was there any hope for my millennial, cryptid loving, orange hoodie wearing self to not buy new pumpkin items as we got closer to October? The answer is simply, no.

Cripsy (a cat)

Thank you for coming to my blog post.

Luke out! (Imagine a pumpkin shaped mic being dropped).

p.s. My cat (and fellow podcaster, Crispy) will be getting some halloween themed toys that she will undoubtedly ignore but like every cat owner I live in hope that she will acknowledge them at least once.
