Me??? I hear you ask. No not you! Me as in me (the person writing this not the person, you, who is reading this).
This is *Drum Roll*…
THE SHANNON (hour) BLOG
(Pause for applause)
I expected more fanfare, maybe a party popper? Maybe some bubbles and party nibbles? No?
Well I might as well get on with it then.
So I decided to get involved with the blog. Because apparently my brain (Yes that same brain that can barley remember to feed itself half the time really needs another thing to forget about).
But nay! For as we get to the end of the first month of 2026 I've been thinking (dangerous I know).
Suffice it safe to say, the year has started pretty sh**. Not a mad shock to be honest because what more can we expect of the world, but alas, here is my offering to the internet gods…

So yeah welcome, I’m not sure what this will be. It’s gonna change month to month because that’s how my brain works. So I’ll just talk into the void in the hope that someone is entertained.
So basically here I am to tell you about something that’s really made me happy this month. And that’s the birds.
Since I can remember I’ve adored birds. Was around birds, went and held a vast variety of birds from owls to eagles to falcons and hawks and parrots and ducks annnnnd well… you get the idea by now. Birds yay. (Please don’t try this without supervision from someone who knows wha they’re doing or more importantly without the birds consent)
Now for the festive season of Yule/Christmas/days off, my FiAnCeEe *Matt Berry voice here* bought me a bird feeder, but not just any bird feeder! No no no… A CAMERA FEEDER.
(Pause for gasps of envy)
So now basically every day I’m bombarded with notifications, notifying me of “Motion Detected!”And honestly nothing has bought me more joy in a WHILE (Sorry to my *Matt Berry voice again* FiAnCeEe, but I’m sure he understands). When I find myself out but needing a mindful moment I pop on and look at the day’s recordings. And for a moment I get to just to stop and appreciate the fact that even when it seems things around us are just a never ending maelstrom of chaos and fire, the world does in fact keep going. The earth keeps spinning and the birds keep singing, and for a precious moment in time I’m grateful to see these little faces and be reminded it’ll all come right again in the end.
Thanks to the wonderful bird feeder I’ve been able to see: Robbins, Blue Tits and Great Tits (lol tits) I’ve even had a Black Bird and the odd Sparrow. (Sparrows aren’t all odd, just this one lol)
Obviously of course I’ve seen the occasional Wood Pigeon which somehow fits its large purple plumed body into the feeder before inhaling in as much seed as it can. Damn they can be glutinous, but I do love a pudgin.(A pudgy pigeon).
So for my first SHANNON (hour) BLOG I just wanted to spread a little joy at the end of this cold month.
Know that spring isn’t too far away and if you also find yourself a little down in these cold days you can always look at these little faces. Adorbs.
Yeah that’s it.
